Westbury Wedding

Service Types

We welcome contact with everyone who is enquiring for Baptism/Christening for themselves and for their children into the Church of England.

We take the opportunity to talk through their decision,  encouraging them to join us for services and to bring children, of any age, to the  Family Service held in Westbury Church on 3rd Sundays at 10.00am.

We will discuss a date and suitable time for the Baptism to take place and look forward to the occasion.

There is no fee payable for a Baptism.

We are always glad for the opportunity to give thanks for the birth of a baby and to invite God’s blessing on them, their parents and family. This can be in a variety of different ways which we will be happy to discuss with parents.

We are delighted to receive enquiries for a marriage service in one of our churches.

For everyone living within our benefice boundaries or in accordance with other permitted parameters (if neither partner lives in the benefice, please feel free to contact the clergy to discuss options) we are able to offer a service in Blaisdon, Flaxley, Minsterworth, Westbury and Northwood Green Churches.

If one or more of the partners has been married before we will need to talk through their circumstances as to whether they can be married in church.

Our charge for the service in 2015 is £557 which includes all legal fees, the organist’s fee and use of the church.

We aim to work to assist preparation for married life by providing a Marriage Preparation Day every year.

If a marriage has already taken place with a civil ceremony in an authorised venue,  we can offer you the opportunity to ask for God’s Blessing on your marriage. This can be a full celebration service in one of our churches with hymns and prayers or a more informal occasion.

At the time of death of a  family member or a friend we are here to offer you our support and help to give thanks for that person’s life and to commend them into God’s care.

We are pleased to offer a service in any of our churches  or at the local crematoria.

The cost for a funeral service in church in 2015 is £252.00, which includes the organist’s fee.

In the event of a request for a new burial in our churchyards of Blaisdon, Flaxley and Minsterworth this is reserved for those living within that parish boundary at the time of death or on the electoral roll. The cost for a church service with burial in 2015 is £554.00.

For those not living in the parish at the time of death but with existing family graves, burials or other arrangements can sometimes be made, but only after consultation with the Priest in Charge.  Westbury has a burial ground owned by the Parish Council and they will have their own policy.

The burial of cremated remains is also permitted in the deceased’s parish churchyard or burial ground.

We also invite all recently bereaved families to join us for the annual All Souls Service held in Westbury Parish Church at 3pm on the first Sunday of November every year.

Our benefice policy on working with children and young people

1. All the Parochial Church Councils accept the Diocesan Policy on Working with Children and Young People.

2. The PCCs seek to provide a caring, warm and consistent atmosphere and environment in which children and young people can develop and grow, and in which they can learn in safety. Children and young people will be treated as individuals and with equal concern.

3. Therefore the PCCs:

Recognise all areas of work with children and young people in our benefice.

Will ensure that everyone involved in the care of children and young people are personally made aware of the Diocesan Policy and the PCC policy.

Will ensure everyone involved in the care of children and young people will always be interviewed by the parish priest or his/her associate and asked to complete the disclosure form which will be checked by the Diocesan Counter-signatory.

Will ensure everyone involved in this work is clear of the nature of the work they have agreed to do and the name of the person to whom they are responsible.

Will ensure the parish priest/associate will be responsible on the PCCs’ behalf for implementing and monitoring the PCCs’ policy.

Will ensure that at least two adults will be present with any group of children or young people.

4. The PCCs will be informed of the names of those that work with children and young people and will be kept notified of any changes.
